The Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled an ambitious development blueprint for the proposed Visakhapatnam Economic Region (VER), outlining investments worth approximately ₹9.3 lakh crore to position North Andhra as a leading centre for advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, logistics and port-led economic growth.
The roadmap was reviewed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during a high-level meeting at his camp office in Undavalli, where officials presented the region's master plan and its long-term development strategy.
According to the proposed framework, the state government is expected to invest nearly ₹4 lakh crore in core infrastructure and public development projects, while private sector participation is projected to contribute around ₹5.3 lakh crore across industrial, commercial and technology-led initiatives.
At the heart of the plan is the proposed Bay City development, envisioned as the region's primary growth engine. The project is designed to accelerate investments, improve connectivity, strengthen industrial ecosystems and attract high-value businesses across multiple sectors.
Emphasising the project's broader vision, Chief Minister Naidu stated that the objective of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region is to drive comprehensive regional development through detailed, micro-level planning, creating a globally competitive economic corridor for the future.
