The proposed initiative aims to examine the potential of converting coal into synthesis gas, which can subsequently be used as a feedstock for urea production. The project could mark another step towards expanding coal-based downstream applications while strengthening domestic fertiliser production capabilities.
The collaboration brings together Coal India’s coal resources and HURL’s expertise in fertiliser manufacturing, with the feasibility and development potential of the proposed project to be assessed through further studies.
